Burma Democratic Concern (BDC) calls on the international community to not to reward Burmese Military Junta with easing pressure for forcefully repressing the people of Burma. Instead, International Community must commit to more aggressive and practical solutions to resolve Burma crisis. The free and democratic world has a moral responsibility to intervene on behalf of humanity. There is no difference between human rights violators and sympathizers in the eyes of the victims.

Gen. Aung San, the Founder of today Burma’s Army said, "Our armed forces are not for tyrannizing the people, not for flaunting their power in reliance on weapon. The armed forces are the servants of the country and not the other way round." But in reality, the situation in Burma is other way round.

The 1990 election results were the voice of the Burmese people and this voice must be recognized. Aung San Suu Kyi and her party (NLD) won a landslide victory in a democratic election against the military dictatorship. To recognize the Military Dictatorship of Than Shwe would legitimize criminal behaviour and crimes against humanity. It must be clearly stated that Burmese people do not want the election of 2010 fore we already had an election. We want the election results of 1990 honoured. The Military Junta must accept the election results, release the duly elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi, release all political prisoners and establish a dialogue to insure a peaceful transition of power.

Our leader, Aung San Suu Kyi once said that "If this country is to achieve genuine democracy, the result of the elections of 1990 must be recognized. It will be to the detriment of our country if after an election has been held the results are not honoured and we do not resist attempts to trivialise it".

A tremendous responsibility rests upon us to a far better end as military regime is trying to legitimize military rule in Burma. We must step up further in order to solve Burma crisis and actions needed to be taken practically focusing on to implement 1990 Elections result. We will fight until we can re-establish government of the people, by the people and for the people.
